Justin Bieber Is Not Going To North Korea, Rep Confirms

At this point, Justin Bieber’s camp is sort of used to the Internet hoaxes — he’s had syphilis, gotten pregnant and even died a few times, if you can believe what you read — but over the past week, there’s been one hoax that just won’t go away: his (supposed) concert stop in North Korea.
It all started with an alleged contest organized by a site called Faxo.com that allowed fans to vote on which country he should visit on an upcoming leg of his My World Tour, with absolutely no restrictions. That proved advantageous for the jokesters over at the notorious 4chan message board, who encouraged folks to vote for North Korea — the communist nation where citizens are denied Internet access and the media is strictly controlled by the government.

Within days, North Korea climbed the charts, and by Wednesday, when the contest ended, it had leapfrogged Israel to claim the top spot. Of course, the Internet went insane once again, and some media outlets even reported that the contest was real.

But while the idea of Bieber performing for Kim Jong-il is certainly hilarious, it’s not actually true. Sure, North Korea may have won the Faxo contest, but the contest was in no way sanctioned by Bieber or anyone in his camp, according to a statement e-mailed on Wednesday (July 7) to MTV News.

“It was a spoof site,” a spokesperson for Bieber wrote. “This is not a legitimate contest.”
So, sadly, the Justin Bieber North Korea concert will not come to fruition anytime soon, which the Internet attributed to something other than the contest’s illegitimacy. Early Wednesday morning, more pranksters had made the most-searched term on Google Trends “Justin Bieber Hates Korea.”

Meanwhile, Bieber fans were subjected to yet another Internet attack. According to the BBC, hackers wrote code into the comments sections of Bieber videos on YouTube, flashing unsuspecting fans with news of the singer’s death and/or redirecting them to adult websites. Google issued a statement saying the company “took swift action to fix a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability” on the video site.

None of this seems to have slowed Bieber’s own Internet activity, however, as the avid Twitterer continues to rally his followers around his latest singles and even deigns to respond to a rumor or two. Back in June, for instance, he wrote, “One … I’m not dead. I had to check on this one … but it turns out I’m alive.”

Sandals With a Touch of Summer Sizzle

Pretty Low Heel Summer Sandals
Pretty Low Heel Summer Sandals
These pretty summer sandals from Moda Spanda Talon combine the feelings of summer ease with summer sizzle. They are perfect for laid back summer bbq’s and gatherings not just because you can slip them on and off so easily (like when you get tempted to jump into that awesome pool. Just saying.), but because they are so darn cute but stylish at the same time.
You could wear these sandals with shorts, summer dresses, and of course, jeans. I really think these low heel sandals would work with almost any summer outfit.
The heels are low (1 3/4″) for extra comfort as you stroll the party. The stone embellishments add a charming chic look to these shoes. They are available in a very nice looking bronze, as well as a cool silver. But I think the color shown here, which is called a Platinum Gold Antique, is fabulous for summer.
And guess what? They fall under the $70 price range!!

Clogs…..They’re Back….!!

Clogs Are Back in Style
Clogs Are Back in Style
I have a couple of pairs of clogs in my closet. And yes, I will admit they are currently enjoying an extended shoe “Time-Out.” I just never liked the look with jeans (which I wear constantly. So now you know I am not a fashion maven so much.), and the ones I have never felt comfy enough to make me yearn to put them on.
But clogs are making quite the comeback this year (just wait till we sail past summer back into the fall season!) and I am happy to say that I am seeing some styles I love. My favorite look is the open-toe clog heels. They seem more stylish and cute, and less cloggy and hospital-like (have you seen nurses wearing clogs …. somehow the shoes lost their charm for me when I saw them up and down hospital corridors. But that’s another story for another day. Maybe.)
These suede open-toe clogs by Steve Madden are fabulous looking. These shoes I can see paired with a cute pair of jeans. I love the soft camel color, but they are also available in black. They feature a 4.5 inch heel and 1.25 inch platform soles.
Do you think if I bring home a pair of these babies, my closet-hidden clogs would get jealous?

SJP Donates Shoes For a Worthy Cause

sarah jessica parkerSarah Jessica Parker recently donated 3 pairs of her high heels to a worthy charity: Shoe Revolt. This organization was started by Newport News resident, Ateba Crocker. The goal of Crocker’s charity to is to help fund shelters for underage victims of sex-trafficking. Shoe Revolt will sell donated shoes starting in August to raise the money.
Of course the best shoes will likely come from celebrities, such as Parker. And although Crocker reaches out to a lot of celebrities, it was The Sex and The City’s star’s amazingly quick response that impressed Crocker so much.
“It was less than a month ago that I sent a letter to Sarah Jessica Parker,” she says. “It was such a quick response. I’m very thankful for her donation.”
Sara Jessica Parker sent three pairs of autographed shoes: a tan pair of suede leather heels; a pair of black cowboy boots; and a pair of sneakers with rhinestones that Crocker dubs “glitter sneakers.” “They look like her,” says Crocker. “She’s the ’shoeista’ queen. I’m a fan of her … and her style … and her shoes.”

‘Twilight Saga: New Moon’ Dominates MTV Movie Awards Nominations

Well, “Twilight” fans, you’ve done it again.

Thanks to Twilighters’ undying love (and constant voting), “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” has five nominations at this year’s MTV Movie Awards: Best Movie, Best Female Performance (Kristen Stewart), Best Male Performance (Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner), Best Kiss (Stewart and Pattinson) and Global Superstar (a new category this year for which Stewart, Pattinson and Lautner are all nominated). “New Moon” came in just behind “The Hangover,” which scored six nods.

In the coveted Best Kiss category, Stewart and Pattinson will defend their title against some familiar and interesting competition. They’ll face Lautner, who is nominated for his kiss with Taylor Swift in “Valentine’s Day,” and Stewart will compete against herself for her kiss with Dakota Fanning in “The Runaways” (other kissing couples include Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds for “The Proposal” and Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington, for “Avatar”).

Fitting with the Team Edward vs. Team Jacob rivalry, Pattinson and Lautner will also go head-to-head in the Best Male Performance category (with Channing Tatum in “Dear John,” Daniel Radcliffe in “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” and Zac Efron in “17 Again” rounding out the rest of the nominees in that category).

Only time will tell if box-office juggernaut “Avatar” or comedic king “The Hangover” have equally obsessive fanbases as the Twilighters. But if last year’s seven nominations and five wins are any indication, fans of the scream-inducing franchise will likely have several reasons to celebrate come June.
